November Deadlines: As we enter the last week of November, several important deadlines are approaching that taxpayers and common citizens should keep in mind. These dates may have both direct and indirect impacts. From submitting the annual life certificate to completing the NPS-to-UPS transfer process, November 30 marks a crucial cutoff for multiple requirements.
Let’s know these deadlines to be prepared earlier or complete the task:
1. UPS Deadline
The Finance Ministry had announced an extension of the deadline for central government employees to opt for the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) till November 30, 2025.
In an official communication to the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) Chairman, the Department of Financial Services, under the Finance Ministry, said the cut-off date for opting into the UPS has been extended by two months from the earlier deadline of September 30.
Under the UPS, employees contribute 10 per cent of their basic salary and dearness allowance, while the government contributes 18.5 per cent. This is different from the old pension scheme, where employees received 50 per cent of their last basic pay as pension without contributions.
2. Pensioners To Submit DLC Between Nov 1 and Nov 30
Pensioners must submit their life certificate, also known as Jeevan Pramaan, between November 1 and 30 to ensure uninterrupted pension payments. However, senior citizens aged 80 and above can submit their life certificate earlier, starting from October 1, 2025.
India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) had introduced the Doorstep Service of Digital Life Certificate in 2020 for generating Jeevan Pramaan for pensioners using Aadhaar enabled biometric authentication to reduce the turnaround time for issuance of Jeevan Pramaan.
Getting a digital Life certificate is hassle free and can be obtained through various Jeevan Pramaan Centres which are being operated by CSCs, Banks, Government offices or by using the client application on any PC/mobile/tablet.
3. Certain Tax-Related Deadlines
The last date of the month, November 30, 2025, is packed with several high-priority filings:
Challan-cum-statements for TDS deducted in October 2025 under Sections 194-IA, 194-IB, 194M, and 194S must be submitted by this date.
Income Tax Return (ITR) filing for Assessment Year 2025–26 is due for taxpayers required to furnish a report under Section 92E, relating to international or specified domestic transactions.
Constituent entities of international groups must also file their Form 3CEAA reports for the accounting year 2024–25 by this date.
