At least 13 personnel of the Pakistani security forces were killed by unidentified armed men in Balochistan on Friday. The soldiers, who were killed in the attack between Pasni zero point and the Badok area of Gwadar district, belonged to the Northern Light Infantry (NLI) regiment.
“There was an attack on a security forces convoy along the coastal highway,” Saeed Ahmad Umrani, a senior government official in Balochistan province was quoted by AFP as saying.
The attack took place near the Balochistan fishing town of Pasni on a highway that follows the coastline from the Iranian border to the mega city of Karachi.
In a similar incident, at least five people, including a policeman, were killed and two others injured in an attack on a police station by the militants in the Balochistan province on October 31.
According to a PTI report, police said that around 20 militants attacked the Naseerabad Police Station in the Turbat area of the volatile province early Wednesday morning.
District Police Officer Muhammad Baloch said constables Essa and Hassan tried to engage the attackers but the former was killed while Hassan was overpowered.
