Pune Metro’s Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi & Civil Court to Swargate face delays; commuters express frustration. Launch dates pushed to 2023.
The much-anticipated Pune Metro stretches from Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi and Civil Court to Swargate are facing delays, leaving commuters in suspense.
Initially expected to open by November-December, Maha Metro officials now hint at inaugurations in January and March.
The delay has left commuters in limbo, particularly those in Pune city and Pimpri-Chinchwad who awaited these stretches’ convenience.
The 5.5-km Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi stretch, crucial for those navigating the Nagar Road area, is nearing completion. While three out of four stations are expected to be operational soon, Yerawada station faces an additional month before it’s ready.
Maha Metro’s Managing Director, Shravan Hardikar, mentioned to The Indian Express, “The rail safety inspection by the end of this month will pave the way for potential inauguration, subject to political decisions.”
Simultaneously, the 3.7 km Shivajinagar Civil Court to Swargate stretch, critical for Pimpri-Chinchwad residents, remains unfinished. The delay means a longer wait for quicker access to Swargate, reducing a two-hour road trip to a mere 50 minutes by Metro.
Rutuja Marale, a daily commuter, expressed disappointment, hoping for operations by November, while Pravin Borhade lamented the prolonged road journeys due to traffic snarls.
Metro officials assured the completion of trial runs for the Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi stretch, testing various departments’ functionalities for operational readiness. Despite successful trials, the wait for commuters continues, amplifying their reliance on alternative transport.
