Ram Charan’s Game Changer Producer Loses Cool After Local Chanel Airs Film Illegally: ‘Unacceptable’ – News18

Game Changer faces piracy as a local channel airs the film illegally, sparking outrage among its makers.
Ram Charan and Kiara Advani’s political thriller Game Changer has become the latest victim of piracy, with an illegal telecast reported just days after its release. The film, which premiered in theatres on January 10, was aired on local cable channels and in buses, causing a stir online. Screenshots of the unauthorised broadcast have been circulating widely, prompting outrage from the film’s producer, Sreenivas Kumar, also known as SKN.
Taking to his X account, SKN condemned the incident, calling it “unacceptable.” He emphasized the extensive efforts behind a film’s production, saying, “A film that was released just 4-5 days ago being telecasted on local cable channels & buses raises serious concerns. Cinema is not just about the hero, director, or producers – it’s the result of 3-4 years of hard work, dedication, and the dreams of thousands of people.”

He further highlighted the financial repercussions of piracy, adding, “Think about the impact on distributors and exhibitors whose livelihoods depend on the success of these films. Such actions undermine their efforts and threaten the future of the film industry. It’s time for respected governments to step up and take strict action to put an end to this.”
SKN concluded his plea with the hashtag #SaveTheCinema, urging unity to protect the industry.
Despite mixed to positive reviews, Game Changer opened strongly at the box office and has already crossed ₹100 crores in India. However, its momentum has been marred by piracy-related setbacks. An HD version of the film was leaked online before its release, with crucial plot points revealed, causing further damage.
Producer Dil Raju had previously lodged a complaint with cyber police against the culprits, alleging extortion attempts before the leak. This illegal airing has added to the mounting challenges for the film, raising urgent questions about the protection of intellectual property in the entertainment industry.
