About the Author:

Roshan Prasad, a cricket philatelist from Sikkim, India was introduced to stamp collection in mid-2005, and within a remarkably short span, he garnered numerous accolades for his exceptional philatelic displays on both national and international stages. His noteworthy achievements include Silver at the World Stamp Championship Exhibition, along with a remarkable 5 international-level and 5 national-level awards for his philatelic exhibits. His previous book “The Stamp Collector’s Dictionary” has also won several awards at National and International level. Roshan is the life member of the Philatelic Congress of India and a member of the Emirates Philatelic Association, United Arab Emirates.

Q: What Inspired You To Write This Book?

A:”The inspiration for ‘The Stamp Chronicles: A Journey Through Philately’ came from a lifelong passion for stamp collecting. It all began with a single stamp, a gift from my elder borther, and it grew into an enduring fascination with these miniature pieces of history. I wanted to share the joy and knowledge I’ve gained through the years with fellow enthusiasts and newcomers to the hobby. This book is a culmination of that passion, a way to inspire and educate others about the world of postage stamps and philately.”

Q: Can You Tell Us About The Book?

A:”The primary objective of ‘The Stamp Chronicles: A Journey Through Philately’ is to provide readers with a comprehensive and engaging exploration of the world of postage stamps, encompassing topics such as stamp collection, the history and evolution of postage stamps, practical guidance on starting a stamp collection journey, essential accessories, building an exhibit, philatelic material selection, and exhibition standards, all while nurturing a deeper understanding of philatelic terminology and knowledge through features like Stamp Recognizing, Global Renaming, and The Stamp Quiz.”

Q: What Does The Title Mean?

A: The title “The Stamp Chronicles: A Journey Through Philately” signifies that the book is a comprehensive exploration of the world of stamp collecting (philately), taking readers on a captivating and educational journey through the history, culture, techniques, and terminology associated with this hobby.

Q: What Did You Learn When Writing The Book?

A:While writing “The Stamp Chronicles,” I discovered the profound historical significance and cultural richness encapsulated in postage stamps, gained a newfound appreciation for the meticulous nature of stamp collection, and recognized the importance of educating and inspiring others to embark on their own philatelic journeys.

Q: How Did Publishing Your First Book Change Your Process Of Writing?

A: Publishing my first book fundamentally altered my writing process by instilling a sense of discipline and responsibility, as I now had a broader audience to consider, resulting in a more structured approach to research, drafting, and revision, with a heightened awareness of the importance of clarity and impact in my writing.

Q: Where Do You Get Your Information Or Ideas For Your Books?

A: I gather information and ideas for “The Stamp Chronicles” from a combination of thorough research, my personal experiences as a stamp collector, engagement with the philatelic community, access to archives and libraries, historical documents, and existing philatelic literature.

Q:When Did You Write Your First Book And How Old Were You?

A:I am 37 years of age. I started writing my first book “The Stamp Collector’s Dictionary” in the year 2011 and completed it by 2016. It got published in the year 2019 by the Department of Posts, Govt of India. “The Stamp Chronicles – A Journey Through Philately” is my second book.

Q: When Did You Write Your First Book And How Old Were You?

A: I strive to offer a fresh perspective and engage readers with original insights while still addressing their interests and needs, finding a harmonious balance between novelty and relevance.

Q: What Is The Most Difficult Part About Writing For You?

A: The most challenging aspect of writing is often overcoming writer’s block and finding the initial momentum to start a piece, especially when dealing with complex or unfamiliar topics.

Q: How Important Is Research To You When Writing A Book?

A: Research is paramount when writing a book, as it forms the foundation for accuracy, depth, and credibility, enabling the author to provide readers with well-informed and engaging content.

Q: What Does Success Mean To You? What Is The Definition Of Success? 

A: As the author of “The Stamp Chronicles,” success means not only creating a well-received and influential book that educates and inspires readers in the world of philately but also fostering a deeper appreciation for stamp collecting, promoting cultural understanding, and leaving a positive impact on the community of stamp enthusiasts. Success, in this context, is measured by the book’s ability to leave a lasting, meaningful impression on its readers and the hobby itself.

Q: Do You Believe A Book Cover Plays An Important Role In The Selling Process?

A: Yes, a book cover plays a crucial role in the selling process, as it serves as the first impression and a visual representation of the book’s content, often influencing a reader’s decision to explore further or make a purchase.

Q: What Advice Would You Give To Aspiring Authors? 

A: My advice to aspiring authors is to read widely, write regularly, embrace constructive criticism, and persist with dedication, as the journey from idea to publication can be challenging but incredibly rewarding.
