Star Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah on Sunday (April 20) dismissed Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni. The 43-year-old wicketkeeper-batter tried to play a big shot against Bumrah on the fourth ball of the 19th over of CSK’s innings of the ongoing IPL 2025 match between MI and CSK at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai but failed to connect the ball properly and was caught by Tilak Varma. During his stay at the crease in Mumbai on Sunday, Dhoni faced six balls and scored four runs.
After Tilak completed Dhoni’s catch, his wife, Sakshi Dhoni, who was present at the stadium to watch the match, was left disappointed, and her reaction is now going viral on the internet.
Fans had high hopes from Dhoni on Sunday, but he failed to do much with the bat.
Despite Dhoni’s flop show with the bat, Chennai Super Kings managed to post a total of 176 runs on the board for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs.
For the Men in Yellow, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja top-scored by remaining not out on 53 runs from 35 balls, and all-rounder Shivam Dube hammered 50 runs from 32 balls. The duo added 79 runs for the fourth wicket. During his stay at the crease, Jadeja hammered four fours and two sixes and also crossed the 2000-run mark in the IPL for CSK. He is the fifth batter to score 2000 runs in the IPL for the Chennai-based franchise.
On the other hand, Dube smacked two fours and four sixes for the MS Dhoni-led side.
The duo’s first impactful knock of the ongoing season came after 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre, on his IPL debut, scored 32 runs from 15 balls. During his stay at the crease, the right-handed batter from Mumbai hammered four fours and two sixes.
For the hosts, Bumrah finished with figures of 2 for 25 runs in four overs, and one CSK batter each was sent back to the pavilion by Deepak Chahar, Ashwani Kumar and Mitchell Santner.
Mumbai Indians need 177 runs in the second half of the match to win the second clasico of the ongoing season and extend their winning streak to three matches in a row.
