Exclusive interview with the author
Q: What Inspired You To Write This Book?
A:My role as a Global Lean Leader involves inspiring people to generate new ideas, drive innovation, and continuously improve. Over the years, I’ve encountered many individuals and successfully transformed their thinking about creativity and problem-solving. I noticed a common misconception: people often view creativity as an innate gift, reserved for a select few. With this book, I wanted to challenge that belief and demonstrate that creative excellence can be cultivated through a defined process and deliberate practice. Creativity isn’t a mystical gift—it’s a skill anyone can develop. My goal was to demystify the creative process and provide a practical framework to help people unlock their full creative potential.
Q: Can You Tell Us About The Book?
A: The Creative Alchemy is an insightful guide to unlocking and mastering creativity through a structured process known as the Creative Excellence Equation. It delves into five transformative principles—Curiosity, Courage, Cognition, Collaboration, and Consistency—that anyone can harness to unleash their creative potential. The final principle focuses on identifying and overcoming conceptual blocks that hinder progress. With a blend of storytelling, real-world examples, and practical exercises, the book empowers readers to break through creative barriers, fostering both personal and professional growth.
Q: What Does The Title Mean?
A: The title, The Creative Alchemy, reflects the transformative nature of creativity. Just as alchemists sought to turn base metals into gold, the creative process involves transforming raw ideas into extraordinary innovations. The title captures this magical, yet systematic, process of creative excellence.
Q: Was The Character Inspired By A Real Person?
A: Elias, the protagonist in the allegorical story, is inspired by all of us—anyone who seeks to create, innovate, and transform. His journey mirrors the struggles and triumphs of real-world creators and innovators, drawing from the universal experiences of learning, experimenting, and persevering.
Q: What Do You Think Happened To The Characters After The Book Ended?
A: Elias’s journey doesn’t end—it evolves. Like all creators, he continues to apply the principles of the Creative Excellence Equation to new challenges, constantly refining his craft and inspiring others along the way. His story is a metaphor for the lifelong nature of creativity.
Q: Where Do You Get Your Information Or Ideas For Your Books?
A: My ideas come from a combination of personal experiences, real-world observations, and inspiration from great thinkers, innovators, and leaders. I also draw heavily from psychology, neuroscience, and creative industries to ensure the principles I share are well-grounded and practical.
Q: How Many Books Have You Written? Which Is Your Favourite?
A: I’ve written two books so far: The Follow-Up Manager and The Creative Alchemy. Each holds a special place in my heart, but The Creative Alchemy is particularly meaningful because it dives into the transformative power of creative excellence.
Q: How Did Publishing Your First Book Change Your Process Of Writing?
A: Publishing my first book taught me the importance of discipline and structure. It also highlighted the value of feedback, which I now incorporate throughout the writing process to refine my ideas.
Q: What, In Your Opinion, Are The Most Important Elements Of Good Writing?
A: Clarity, authenticity, and emotional resonance. Good writing communicates ideas effectively while connecting with readers on a personal level.
Q: What Does Success Mean To You? What Is The Definition Of Success?
A: Success is about creating meaningful impact—helping readers unlock their potential and inspiring them to take action. It’s also about personal growth and enjoying the journey.
Q: How Important Is Research To You When Writing A Book?
A: Research is crucial. It ensures the content is credible, actionable, and relatable. For The Creative Alchemy, I spent a lot of time exploring psychological theories and studying real-world case studies.
Q: Where Do You Get Your Greatest Ideas For Writing?
A: My greatest ideas come from observing people, analyzing problems, and exploring the intersections of different fields. Inspiration often strikes when I least expect it, such as during conversations or personal reflections.
Q: What Advice Would You Give To Aspiring Authors?
A: Start small, stay consistent, and don’t be afraid to rewrite. Writing is a craft that improves with practice. Focus on the value you’re delivering to your readers, and trust the process.
Q: How Do Your Book Get Published?
A: I approach publishing strategically, whether through traditional publishers or self-publishing. Each book is tailored to reach its intended audience effectively.
Q: What Is The Most Difficult Part About Writing For You?
A: Overcoming self-doubt. Like many writers, I occasionally question whether my ideas are valuable or original enough. Staying focused on the purpose of my work helps me push through those moments.
