Netflix has given fans a thrilling sneak peek into Squid Game Season 3 by releasing the first six minutes of the final season—and it’s already sending chills down spines. The series opens with a shocking moment as Gi-hun, aka Player 456, played by Lee Jung-jae, is revealed to be alive, defying all odds from the brutal previous season.

In the clip, shared by Netflix Tudum, Gi-hun is seen waking up inside a coffin, styled like a luxurious gift box. Shaken and distraught, he cries out for the guards to end his life, unable to bear the weight of the choices he made. His dramatic reawakening leaves the other survivors stunned and fearful, as they realise the game is far from over.
Alongside Gi-hun’s emotional return, the episode also hints at a mysterious squad navigating an island in search of answers related to the players’ unexplained disappearances.
Series creator and director Hwang Dong-hyuk explained to Tudum that Gi-hun’s return is intentional and strategic. “For Front Man, sending Gi-hun back to the game — rather than killing him — makes sense,” he said. “He wants Gi-hun to truly feel the consequences of his actions and lose his remaining faith in humanity.”
Lee Jung-jae, who won an Emmy for his performance, reflected on his character’s journey: “When the coffin is opened, Gi-hun is reborn. He has to go back to the competition, play the game again, and make choices again.”
With Season 3 marking the final chapter of Squid Game, fans can expect even more intense and psychologically demanding challenges. The first season broke global records, becoming Netflix’s most-watched series and earning six Primetime Emmy Awards.
Squid Game Season 3 officially premieres on Friday, June 27, on Netflix.
