Exclusive interview with the author

Q: What Inspired You To Write This Book?

A:After I attended a book launch of a friend, I decided to write and publish one too! As I had already written a few short stories, it was easy for me to write more and make it into a book!

Q: How Long Does It Take You To Write A Book?

A: Well, it depends on how much effort you put into it. When I used to get a few ideas once a while, I’d be so afraid of forgetting them that I would type it in STRAIGHT AWAY! It took about 1 month to finish writing it.

Q: Can You Tell Us About The Book?

A: Well, my book titled “A Treasure Trove of Tales” is a work of fiction, with 19 stories and 4 poems.

Q: What Does The Title Mean?

A: Oh, nothing specific! I just love alliterations! AND I love the alphabet T! After all, it IS the first letter of my name.

Q: What Do You Think Happened To The Characters After The Book Ended?

A: The three hunters rented a room in a mansion with the 10 gold coins. Doris bought 5 burgers all for himself! Akshara played with the poor children in the mansion the three hunters had rented! The five poetic monsters lived in Eve’s house because Aria woke up, and Aria showed the ukulele to Amit, who had befriended her. Amit shared the gold and jewels he got from the fountain, and introduced her to the Dragontooth monster, who had come to live with him! The shoes have forgiven us all for mistreating them. Watermelon decided to buy some toys. As he went to the toy store, he passed the appliance store. He smiled and waved hi at Pendrive, the Super Gadget! P.S – This might sound like a whole lot of baloney to you if you haven’t read the book yet, so I suggest you pick up a copy now.

Q: Where Do You Get Your Information Or Ideas For Your Books?

A:From my head, of course! When I read other authors, my head is full of ideas about what else could the character have done in the plot… Those ideas I get while reading are the ones that I use to shape my characters as I bring them to life!

Q: How Many Books Have You Written? Which Is Your Favourite?

A Treasure Trove of Tales’ is my first book and the only one I’ve written so far. But there are many more books coming! The future book is my favorite, and I’m striving to make it serious—ly funny!

Q:Do You Have Any Suggestions To Help Others To Become A Better Writer? If So, What Are They?

A: I am trying to become a better writer. I like to read and try understand the different styles of writing of different authors— For example, Roddy Doyle interacts with the reader through his writing, while ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ by Jeff Kinney is all about the character’s perception of events.

Q:Do You Try More To Be Original Or To Deliver To Readers What They Want?

A:I usually just type in what comes to my mind. Then I double-check it to see if my readers would enjoy it. Sometimes in the middle of a story I interact with the readers. I guess the readers are always there with me while I write! And I do hope I’m delivering them what they want. So, my dear readers, whatever more you want me to deliver, please let me know in the feedback! I’d love that!

Q: How Did Publishing Your First Book Change Your Process Of Writing?

A:I never knew I’d become an author, until I actually published a book! When I was little, I’d only dream of writing books! But, even then, I used to write a lot of short stories. I drew many pictures, too. I never took this writing thing seriously until now. And I have amazed myself so much that I’ve started to write my second book!

Q: What, In Your Opinion, Are The Most Important Elements Of Good Writing?

A:I feel that every good book needs a bit of humour, adventure, sorrow etc. The challenges and emotions of the character should show in the writing. A children’s book definitely needs humour, because they live with adults, who have none!

Q: What Does Success Mean To You? What Is The Definition Of Success?

A: Success means winning or achieving prize cups in competitions, to me. Any action that helps me get fame and popularity, is a success.

Q: Where Do You Get Your Greatest Ideas For Writing?

A: As a fiction writer, my greatest ideas come from my head. And I think those ideas come from my life experiences and from the many books I read.

Q: What Advice Would You Give To Aspiring Authors?

A:If you aspire to become an author: Journal your thoughts: When I was eight, I started journaling and put my ideas on paper. It helped me improve my vocabulary. Write down your feelings and emotions. READ— If you aren’t a reader, you cannot be a writer! You must have at least 5 favourite authors! Why? You can experience many different points of view, and feel different emotions when you read different authors! Pick your favourite style— It can be adventure, humour, fiction or non-fiction, etc.! Read away! “And if you don’t like to read”—J.K Rowling says—”You haven’t found the right book.”! So, try different authors!
