A passionate Virat Kohli fan managed to breach security on Saturday (March 22) and entered the field to touch Virat Kohli’s feet during the IPL 2025 match played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The incident took place during the second half of the match, when Kohli came out to open for the Bengaluru-based franchise in the 175-run chase.
The clip of the fan entering the ground and running to the batting crease to touch Kohli’s feet is now going viral on the internet.
Kohli top-scored for RCB in the first match of IPL 2025 and helped them chase down the target of 175 runs in just 16.2 overs for the loss of just three wickets. During his stay at the crease on Saturday, Kohli faced 36 balls and with the help of fours fours and three sixes scored 59 runs.
He added 95 runs for the first wicket with England’s wicketkeeper-batter Phil Salt (56). Salt, who was part of KKR in IPL 2024, punished his former team during his 31-ball stay at the crease at the iconic stadium in Kolkata. He hammered 9 fours and two sixes.
Krunal Pandya shines
In the first match of IPL 2025, RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to field first. RCB made a positive start in the match by removing KKR opener Quinton de Kock (4) in the first over itself, but after that, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane (56) and Sunil Narine (44) added 103 runs for the second wicket. Narine was dismissed by Rasikh Salam on the last ball of the 10th over, and then in his next three overs, Krunal Pandya picked up three wickets to trigger KKR’s middle-order collapse.
He opened his account by dismissing Rahane on the third ball of the 11th over of KKR innings and then picked up the wickets of Venkatesh Iyer (6) and Rinku Singh (12). The former MI and LSG star finished the match with figures of 3/29 in four overs, and for his bowling performance, he won the Player of the Match award.
