The small-screen actress began her acting career in 2006 with a supporting role in Thodi Khushi Thode Gham. It was her lead role in Mata Ki Chowki between 2008 and 2011, helping her become a prominent face in television. Muskan continued appearing on other hit crime shows like Adaalat, Crime Patrol, Code Red and Bharat Ka Veer Putra: Maharana Pratap. After her last role in 2015 with Agent Raghav: Crime Branch, she has been on a hiatus from the entertainment industry.

After getting married to Prashant Motwani, brother of actress Hansika Motwani, in 2021, Muskan Nancy James initially seemed to have a happy life with her partner. They even hosted a grand wedding in Udaipur, but after two years, cracks started appearing in their relationship. Their differences led them to live separately and Muskan deleted her wedding pictures from social media. Earlier this week, the actress decided to take legal action by filing a case against her husband and his family.

The actress filed her complaint at Amboli police station in Mumbai on December 18, 2024, accusing Prashant Motwani and his family of various offences. The complaint includes charges under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, such as Section 498-A (cruelty by husband or his relatives), Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), Section 504 (insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), Section 506 (criminal intimidation) and Section 34 (common intention).

According to reports from Free Press Journal, Muskan Nancy James revealed in her FIR that she first met Prashant on a dating app and he later proposed to her. While discussing the marriage in 2020, Muskan wanted to delay the wedding after the death of a relative. She claims her mother-in-law forced her to marry as planned and threatened that if she didn’t, Prashant would be married to someone else. Due to the pressure, Muskan agreed to marry Prashant in the same year.

After her marriage, Muskan claims her mother-in-law started demanding expensive gifts, but no matter what she provided, they were never satisfied and insulted her. She also accused them of booking the wedding venue in Udaipur without consulting her family and forced them to pay for all the expenses. She further claims that due to domestic violence and constant stress, she developed Bell’s Palsy. After facing these challenges, Muskan decided to take legal action.
