Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the 31 Abrams tanks supplied by the US likely didn’t make much difference on the battlefield. “I’m not sure that such a number of tanks can change the situation in the battle,” Zelensky said on July 9 while attending the NATO summit in Washington. In May, CNN reported that Ukrainian crews maintaining US-supplied M1 Abrams tanks faced numerous battlefield issues with the armored vehicles. The crews said that the $10 million vehicles did not have sufficient armour against modern weapons such as drones. Zelensky also expressed his anger with Russia during the NATO summit and said that “when children are dying you want to kill Putin”
