The Chile women team’s tour of Argentina couldn’t have begun on a more earth-shattering note as the hosts sent records tumbling in a T20I that produced numbers of colossal proportions. The home team’s victory margin in Buenos Aires on Saturday was 364 runs and the target they set Chile to chase was an unimaginable 428 in a T20 international.
The Argentine openers enjoyed a net session in the middle, as Lucia Taylor scored 169 off 84 balls with 27 fours. It is the highest individual T20I knock now. Taylor’s partner Albertina Galan smashed 145 not out, also in 84 balls, including 23 fours. Their opening partnership lasted 16.5 overs and produced 350 runs.
No. 3 batter Maria Castineiras hit a 16-ball 40 not out.

Interestingly, the record Argetina innings didn’t see even a single six.
Another shocking statistic that emerged from the record-breaking match was 52 runs conceded in just one over. The unwanted record now stands in the name of Chile’s Florencia Martinez. The over included 17 no-balls.
Argentina then bowled out Chile for just 63, which included 29 extras, out of which 26 were wides.
Argentina’s total of 427/1 broke the previous record in a T20I held by Bahrain women, which was 318/1 against Saudi Arabia in 2022.

At the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, last month, Nepal men’s team scored 314/3 against Mongolia, which is the highest total in men’s T20I cricket.
