Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his meteoric rise with second double century (214 not out) of the series to help India set an improbable 557-run target for England.Heaping praise on the young Indian talents for orchestrating India’s massive victory, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma took to Instagram to acknowledge their match-winning performances.
Rohit shared an Instagram story featuring pictures of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel, captioning it as ‘Yeh Aajkal ke bacche.’
At 22 years and 49 days, Jaiswal became the third youngest player to score two Test double centuries behind Vinod Kambli and Don Bradman. He is also the third Indian after Kambli and Virat Kohli to hit 200s in two successive Tests.
Jaiswal also hit 12 sixes in his knock, equalling Wasim Akram’s record for most sixes in single innings. He has hit 22 sixes this series, most by a batter in a Test series.
In a remarkable debut in the international arena, Sarfaraz etched his name among the elite, becoming only the fourth Indian to achieve twin half-centuries on Test debut.
Displaying an aggressive style of play, Sarfaraz took on the spinners. In the first innings, he scored 62 runs off 66 balls, featuring nine fours and a six. In the second innings, he remained unbeaten with a score of 68 off 72 balls, including six fours and three sixes.
