LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party’s candidate for the Sadar seat from Gorakhpur in the Lok Sabha, Kajal Nishad, was urgently referred to a private hospital in Lucknow on Sunday night. This occurred after she experienced a heart problem while already admitted to a hospital in Gorakhpur.
Doctors decided to move her after noticing some changes in her heart’s electrical activity. She was taken to the hospital in an ambulance accompanied by family and party members. The party has informed SP national president Akhilesh Yadav about her condition.
Earlier, Nishad’s health took a hit on Friday when she fainted during a public event due to the scorching heat. She was admitted to a private hospital where doctors found she was dehydrated.
Nishad, who is contesting for the Gorakhpur Sadar Lok Sabha seat, has been actively campaigning since receiving the ticket. On Friday, doctors had diagnosed her with dehydration and high blood pressure, and she was receiving treatment.
However, her condition deteriorated again on Sunday evening. She complained of chest pain, and an ECG revealed changes in her heart’s rhythm. Dr Yasir Afzal, part of the team treating her, explained that the report indicated a heart attack.
Kajal Nishad, originally known as a television actress, entered politics in 2012 contesting on the Congress ticket from rural Gorakhpur. Despite initial setbacks, she continued her political journey, contesting again in 2017. This time around, she’s competing against BJP MP and actor Ravi Kishan on the Samajwadi Party ticket.
