A fresh issue has surfaced for Dhanush’s upcoming film ‘Kara,’ just two days ahead of its planned April 30 release. After failing to sort out the issue in the Tamil Film Producer’s Council, a petition was submitted to the Madras High Court requesting that the movie be stopped due to a title dispute. The title trademark confusion surprised everyone and is creating uncertainty about whether the film will release in theatres. With very little time left, the case has now become a key talking point in the industry.Producer claims prior registration of ‘Kara’ titleProducer Vengai Ayyanar filed the case on behalf of a Salem-based production banner. As reported by The Hindu, in his petition, he stated that he had already registered the title ‘Kara’ with the producers’ council back in 2021. He also claimed that he has been developing a film under the same title, featuring actors like Master Mahendran and Motta Rajendran. According to him, using the same or a similar title for Dhanush’s film could confuse audiences. He further mentioned that his earlier complaints to the producers’ body received no proper response.‘Kara’ release threatened to be stoppedIn the petition, the producer requested the court to stop the release of Dhanush’s film unless the title is changed. He pointed out that the film is also being promoted with the same name in English, which could mislead viewers. The plea clearly urges that the makers should not be allowed to release the film without resolving the title issue. The case is expected to come up for hearing soon, making the next 48 hours crucial for the film’s fate.‘Kara’ struggles ahead of grand releaseDirected by Vignesh Raja, ‘Kara’ features a strong cast including Mamitha Baiju, K. S. Ravikumar, Karunas, and Jayaram. The film’s music is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar. The censor board has already granted a U/A certificate, and promotions are in full swing. However, with the case now heading to court just days before release, fans are eagerly waiting to see if ‘Kara’ will make it to theatres as scheduled or face a last-minute hurdle.Disclaimer: This article is for informational purposes only and is based on reported news of court proceedings and legal claims.
