Anees Bazmee to direct ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’, but discussions of Sidharth Malhotra replacing Akshay Kumar are yet to happen: Report – Times of India

A few days back, ETimes brought you news that Sidharth Malhotra has replaced Akshay Kumar in the sequel of ‘Rowdy Rathore’. It was also revealed that Kiara Advani is being considered to be cast opposite Sidharth while Anees Bazmee will helm the film.

However, a new report suggests that it’s true that Anees is in talks with producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali to direct ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’, but other than that, everything else is unconfirmed. There’s not been any discussion of replacing Akshay with Sidharth in the sequel. People associated with the film really want Sidharth to star in the sequel since Kiara is being considered but nothing concrete has happened on that front.

But ETimes has it from trusted sources that Akshay Kumar is not keen on returning as Rowdy Rathore. With Kiara being roped in for the film, Sidharth Malhotra’s casting as the lead man will add value to the project.
Meanwhile, Anees is currently prepping for his film with Shahid Kapoor. He’s working on the pre-production since he aims to take the film on floors in July or August. So, he would only be able to think about ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’ after he wraps up this comedy with Shahid. That goes on to say that ‘Rowdy Rathore’ sequel isn’t happening any time soon. More so, because Bazmee also has the sequel to ‘No Entry’ to concentrate upon.

Well, now that’s some good news for Akshay Kumar fans as there have been no talks yet of Sidharth replacing him. Akshay will begin shooting for ‘Hera Pheri 3’ soon with Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal.

Sidharth on the other hand is busy with Rohit Shetty’s ‘Indian Police Force’ and ‘Yodha’ with Disha Patani and Raashii Khanna. Both these projects will see him getting into some hardcore action.
