NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav joined Congress leader Rahul Gandhi‘s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra‘ in Agra on Sunday.
This comes days after the two parties reached a seat-sharing arrangement in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Supporters of both parties gathered and cheered as Yadav, Gandhi, and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra waved at the crowd.
During his address, Akhilesh criticized the government, stating that farmers are standing against them.He expressed confidence that the BJP will be removed and the INDIA coalition government will prioritize the welfare of farmers.
“I would like to thank the public…In the coming days, the biggest challenge is to save the democracy, and the Constitution, to fulfill the dreams of Dr BR Ambedkar, that has been ruined by the BJP… ‘BJP haatao, desh bachao’,” Akhilesh said.
The SP chief also highlighted the government’s alleged lack of respect for backward classes, Dalits, and minority communities. ‘
Earlier this week, the two INDIA bloc allies announced the seat-sharing arrangement for the Lok Sabha polls according to which the Congress will contest 17 out of the 80 seats in the state.
