About the Author:

Hi, I’m Aditya Pratap Singh—author of Misfit and someone who’s always felt a little out of place in the world. I was born in Delhi, India. I grew up in spaces inside my mind where I’ve always felt most at home. I studied Civil Engineering and went on to complete an MBA, but writing has always been the one thing that helped me make sense of everything I couldn’t say out loud. This is my first book. Every chapter in Misfit is based on true moments from my life, some shared with me by my Mumma and relatives when I was younger, others etched into memory by how deeply they made me feel. I’m someone who values realness, connection, and preserving things the way they were. I still have every toy I collected in childhood they remind me of who I’ve always been. That collection is probably my most prized possession. I now live in Mumbai, building a life where my soul fits—not where I’m expected to be, but where I feel like I belong. I keep a close circle, live a fairly quiet life, and spend a lot of time thinking: about ideas, ambitions, and the kind of world I want to create. My mother has always been my biggest strength. Everything I’ve done and everything I’ve written, has her love behind it. Thanks for picking up Misfit. I hope somewhere in these pages, you find a piece of your own story too.

Exclusive interview with the author

Q: What Inspired You To Write This Book?

A: My life’s journey inspired me. I wanted to keep the lessons, memories, and growth from the past 25 years safe in one place. Writing a book felt like the best way to do that, something permanent that I could share with others.

Q: Can You Tell Us About The Book?

A: Yes, this book is about a person who felt like a misfit in a world that seemed perfect on the outside. It takes the reader on a journey, from childhood to adulthood, showing how life’s lessons helped him grow. The message is simple: everyone feels like a misfit at some point, but the truth is, every misfit is a fit, you just have to find your own fit in the world.

Q: Was The Character Inspired By A Real Person?

A: Yes, the characters in the book are all based on real people, real experiences, and real incidents. That’s the beauty of this book, every story is drawn from real life.

Q: How Long Does It Take You To Write A Book?

A: Honestly, it took me 25 years, because this book is the sum of my life’s journey, experiences, and learnings over that time.

Q: Do You Try More To Be Original Or To Deliver To Readers What They Want?

A: I think being original is what readers look for, as they are able to connect more to it.

Q: What, In Your Opinion, Are The Most Important Elements Of Good Writing?

A: Clarity of thoughts, feelings and emotions. As writing requires you to frame your thoughts to ink which requires clarity.

Q: What Does Success Mean To You? What Is The Definition Of Success?

A: Success to me is to achieve your desired goals. Its the satisfaction within your own self.

Q: Do You Believe A Book Cover Plays An Important Role In The Selling Process?

A: Yes, I do believe. I personaally think that representation of the book plays an important role. It conveys the idea which can be beneath. Although I dont judge a book by its cover but it definitely plays some role.
