PM Modi’s Israel Visit LIVE Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day official visit to Israel at the invitation of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

Today’s Itinerary

On the second day of his visit on Thursday, PM Modi will pay a visit to Yad Vashem at 12:15 PM — Israel’s official memorial, established in 1953, to commemorate the six million Jews murdered by Nazis. Following this, he is scheduled to meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog for bilateral engagements. Later in the day, the two Prime Ministers will meet for delegation-level talks at around 2:40 PM before the release of MoU exchange and joint press statements.

At 4 PM, PM Modi will hold an interaction with the Indian diaspora in Israel, following which he will depart for New Delhi at 5:50 PM.

What’s On Agenda?

As per reports, defence and security cooperation, including potential collaboration on India’s indigenous air defence shield “Sudarshan Chakra” and Israel’s Iron Dome technology, is expected to feature prominently in the bilateral talks. Economic engagement, innovation, trade, and investment will also be high on the agenda, building on the bilateral investment agreement and ongoing Free Trade Agreement negotiations.

On Wednesday, PM Modi addressed a Special Plenary of the Knesset in Jerusalem and became the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Israeli parliament. He was also was conferred with the highest honour of the Knesset — “Speaker of the Knesset Medal” — by the Israeli Parliament on Wednesday.

Upon his arrival at the Knesset, the Prime Minister was received by the Speaker of the Knesset, Amir Ohana and accorded a ceremonial welcome.
