Iran-US War Ceasefire News Live Updates: Araghchi Delivers Khamenei’s Message To Putin
US-Iran War News Live Updates: As Tehran-Washington peace talks remain stalled, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Russia on Monday ahead of his meeting with President Vladimir Putin. The Iranian Minister headed to Russia on Sunday amid intense regional diplomacy. Araghchi had earlier visited Oman after a trip to Islamabad. Araghchi is also set to meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
On Saturday, US President Donald Trump cancelled a planned visit to Islamabad by his envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Despite the setback, diplomatic channels appear active. The Fars news agency reported that Iran sent “written messages” to the Americans through Pakistan, outlining red lines on key issues such as its nuclear programme and the Strait of Hormuz.
While a ceasefire in the US-Israeli conflict with Iran has largely held, its economic impact continues to ripple globally. Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz has disrupted supplies of oil, gas, and fertiliser, driving up prices and heightening concerns over food insecurity in developing nations.
Expectations for a second round of talks in Pakistan had been tied to the visit by Witkoff and Kushner, but Trump called off the trip, describing it as “sitting around talking about nothing”.
Meanwhile, Israel and Hezbollah traded blame over violations of the fragile ceasefire in Lebanon, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying the military was “vigorously” targeting the Iran-backed militia as both sides claimed new attacks. Hezbollah drew Lebanon into the West Asia war on March 2 by firing rockets at Israel to avenge the death of Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei, with Israel responding with strikes and a ground invasion.
