Assembly Election Results 2026 Date Live Updates: The stage is set for one of the most closely watched electoral outcomes of the year, as vote counting for the Assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal will take place on May 4. Counting is scheduled to begin at 8:00 am, with initial trends expected within the first couple of hours and clearer leads emerging by late morning.
Polling for these elections was conducted in April across multiple phases. Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry went to the polls on April 9, while Tamil Nadu voted on April 23. West Bengal saw voting held in two phases—April 23 and April 29. Voter turnout remained notably high across all regions, reflecting strong public participation.
West Bengal recorded the highest turnout, crossing a whopping 92 per cent across phases. Assam followed with a record 85.38 per cent turnout, while Puducherry saw 89.87 per cent participation. Tamil Nadu and Kerala registered 84.69 per cent and 79.63 per cent turnout, respectively.
The counting process will take place at designated centres across each state under tight security, with the Election Commission ensuring a multi-layered system to maintain order and transparency.
