Aalema Kaukab Talks About Her Book “A Heart That Healed Itself Quietly”
About the Author:
Aalema Kaukab is a writer, educator, and content creator who writes about mental health, self-love, healing, emotional growth, and finding peace within yourself. Her writing is deeply personal, honest, and relatable, inspired by her own experiences, struggles, and journey of healing. Through her words, she hopes to create a safe space for people who feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or emotionally exhausted. She believes that healing does not happen overnight and that sometimes the smallest words can make someone feel seen and understood. This book was written for anyone who has ever felt lost, carried too much alone, questioned their worth, or struggled to be kind to themselves. Her hope is that these pages remind readers that they are not alone and that healing is possible, even if it happens slowly. Her message is simple: “You do not have to become someone else to deserve love, peace, and happiness. You only have to learn how to be there for yourself.”
Exclusive interview with the author
Q: What Inspired You To Write This Book?
A: I think this book was born from everything I had been feeling but didn’t always know how to say. There were moments when I felt lost, behind, emotionally exhausted, and unsure of myself. Writing became a way of making sense of those feelings. I wanted to create the kind of book I would have needed on my difficult days—a quiet reminder that healing takes time and that it is okay to find your way at your own pace.
Q: Can You Tell Us About The Book?
A: A Heart That Healed Itself Quietly is a book about healing, self-love, growth and finding yourself again. It is for people who are trying to keep going while silently dealing with things they don’t always talk about. It talks about comparison, loneliness, letting go, choosing yourself, starting again and learning to be at peace with your own journey. More than anything, I want readers to feel understood while reading it.
Q: What Does The Title Mean?
A: A Heart That Healed Itself Quietly means healing without an audience. Sometimes we don’t realise how much we have grown because there is no big moment that tells us we are healed. We simply wake up one day and realise that something that once broke us no longer has the same power over us. That quiet transformation is what the title represents.
Q: What Did You Learn When Writing The Book?
A: I learned that healing is not always a dramatic transformation. Sometimes, healing is simply getting through a difficult day, choosing yourself again, or finally accepting something you cannot change. I also learned that you don’t have to have everything figured out before you start moving forward.
Q: Where Do You Get Your Information Or Ideas For Your Books?
A: My ideas usually come from life—conversations, observations, emotions, books I read, things I experience and even thoughts that come to me during quiet moments. I am especially inspired by the things people feel but don’t always say out loud.
Q: Do You Have Any Suggestions To Help Others To Become A Better Writer? If So, What Are They?
A: Don’t wait until you think you are a “perfect writer.” Start writing. Write honestly, read a lot, observe people and keep learning. And most importantly, don’t be afraid to write badly in the beginning. Your first draft doesn’t have to be perfect; it just has to exist.
Q: Do You Try More To Be Original Or To Deliver To Readers What They Want?
A: I believe in being original while still being connected to the reader. I don’t want to write simply because something is trending. I want to write things that feel real and meaningful. If a reader can see a little bit of themselves in my words, then I feel I have done what I wanted to do.
Q: What Is The Most Difficult Part About Writing For You?
A: The most difficult part is probably being vulnerable. When you write honestly, you are also putting a part of yourself on the page for strangers to read and interpret. Sometimes editing is also difficult because you have to step back from something emotional and decide what truly needs to stay.
Q: What Does Success Mean To You? What Is The Definition Of Success?
A: Success, for me, isn’t only about numbers, money or recognition. It is knowing that I created something meaningful and stayed true to myself while doing it. If even one person reads my book and feels a little less alone, I would consider that a meaningful kind of success.
Q: What Advice Would You Give To Aspiring Authors?
A: Don’t wait for permission to call yourself a writer. If you have something inside you that you genuinely want to say, start. Your first draft may not be perfect, and your journey may take longer than you imagined, but that’s okay. Keep writing, keep reading, keep learning—and most importantly, don’t lose your own voice while trying to sound like everyone else.
