About the Author:

Amit Chaturvedi is a Delhi-based strategy consultant, writer, and lifelong learner of both modern economics and ancient Indian philosophy. With over a decade of experience in financial research and business strategy, Amit blends real-world economic insight with the timeless teachings of the Vedas. Educated in economics, finance, and business management, Amit’s analytical training is matched by his deep passion for spiritual wisdom. A dedicated reader of sacred texts like the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, Puranas, and the Bhagavatam, he explores how ancient truths can solve today’s most pressing economic challenges. He comes from the spiritually rich city of Mathura, where generations in his family have studied and revered the Vedas. Vedantonomics is his debut work. Through this book, Amit offers a fresh lens on purpose, progress, and prosperity, challenging assumptions and inspiring a return to Dharma-led economics. This innovative philosophical fiction brings together economics and Dharma in a dialogue that is as humorous as it is enlightening. When he’s not consulting or writing, Amit enjoys unpacking complex theories, drawing curious parallels between Warren Buffett and Ved Vyasa, and pondering whether GDP could ever capture the essence of grace.

Exclusive interview with the author

Q: What Inspired You To Write This Book?

A: The inspiration came from a deep frustration with the moral vacuum in modern economics. I saw brilliant policies fail because they lacked an ethical spine. I wanted to show that ancient Vedic wisdom, when married with modern economics, could create not just wealth. but well-being.

Q: Can You Tell Us About The Book?

A: Vedantonomics is a fictional yet thought-provoking dialogue between Bharat, a skeptical economics student, and Professor Madhav, a Harvard-educated economist rooted in Sanatana Dharma. Across campus conversations under a banyan tree, they dissect GDP, capitalism, greed, governance, sustainability, and the meaning of true prosperity through both Keynesian graphs and Vedic shlokas.

Q: What Does The Title Mean?

A: The title Vedantonomics blends “Vedanta,” the pinnacle of Vedic philosophical thought, with “economics,” the modern science of resource management. It’s about redefining economic thought so that Dharma (ethics), Artha (wealth), Kama (desire), and Moksha (liberation) co-exist in balance.

Q: Was The Character Inspired By A Real Person?

A: Yes and no. The characters symbolize deeper truths: Professor Madhav subtly mirrors the timeless figure of Krishna, an enlightened guide who reappears in every age to reawaken consciousness and restore balance. Bharat reflects India, a nation rediscovering its own spiritual-economic legacy after centuries of ideological colonization. John, a visiting student from the US, embodies the curious Western mind, ready to unlearn, absorb, and collaborate in building a more ethical, conscious world.

Q: How Long Does It Take You To Write A Book?

A: The writing itself took months, but the thinking took years. Vedantonomics is not just a story- it’s a lifetime of observations, debates, failures, and reflections distilled into words.

Q: Where Do You Get Your Information Or Ideas For Your Books?

A: I draw from three streams: Vedic texts – Bhagavad Gita, Mahabharata, Upanishads, Manusmriti, Arthashastra Modern economic history – financial crises, policy debates, corporate case studies Real conversations with economists/ consultants at my work place, monks, entrepreneurs, and everyday people It’s where ancient rivers meet modern currents that I find my stories.
