Exclusive interview with the author

Q: What Inspired You To Write This Book?

A: Mental health remains a deeply stigmatized topic in India, with many struggling to openly discuss their struggles or seek help due to the taboo attached to it. This book aims to bring the change, encourage conversations and empower individuals to prioritize their mental well-being. By sharing stories and insights, I hope to break down the barriers of stigma and foster a more supportive and inclusive environment for mental health.

Q: Can You Tell Us About The Book?

A: This book offers a collection of relatable stories, insightful articles, and personal anecdotes that delve into the complexities of mental wellness and illness. With practical guidance and resources, readers will discover how to seek help, find support, and navigate the journey towards mental well-being.

Q: What Does The Title Mean?

A: Mind Matters holds a dual significance for me. On one hand, it emphasizes the paramount importance of mental wellbeing in our lives. On the other, it literally translates to ‘matters of the mind’, reflecting the book’s focus on exploring the intricacies of the human mind.

Q: How Long Does It Take You To Write A Book?

A:It varies book to book. The content of this book is a culmination of my two-year journey writing a mental health column for a community magazine. Drawing from real-life case studies, I’ve crafted fictional stories and articles that maintain confidentiality while conveying the complexities and nuances of mental health experiences.

Q: When Did You Write Your First Book And How Old Were You?

A: My writing journey began at a tender age, but it wasn’t until I turned 34 that my first book was published, marking a significant milestone in my literary journey.

Q: How Many Books Have You Written? Which Is Your Favourite?

A: I have published 3 books so far, two in Kannada and one in English. ‘Mind Matters’ is my fourth book. Each of these books are from different genre and I like each of them for different reasons.

Q:What, In Your Opinion, Are The Most Important Elements Of Good Writing?

A: For me, impactful writing is not just about engaging readers, but also about inspiring reflection and fostering personal growth. I firmly believe that writers have a social responsibility to wield their influence wisely, as their words have the power to shape lives.

Q: What Does Success Mean To You? What Is The Definition Of Success?

A:Defining ‘what success is’ is not easy for me. Success isn’t a fixed destination or a permanent state. In fact, it can be a double-edged sword, breeding complacency and stagnation. I see success as fleeting stops on a journey. Getting stuck at one stop means missing out on new opportunities for growth and exploration.
