Three killed, one injured as two motorcycles collide near Viralimalai

Three persons were killed and one was injured in a road accident on Tiruchi-Madurai national highway near Viralimalai in Pudukottai district on Friday night.

According to police sources, V. Sundaraj, 31, a native of Madurai, along with his friend R. Akashraj, 24, from Tiruchi, was going to Tiruchi from Madurai on a high-end motorcycle. A. Sivasubramaniyan, 42, and his mother Maruthamal, 63, from Viralimalai, were riding a two-wheeler on the other side of the road. The two vehicles collided while Sivasubramaniyan was crossing the highway near Kodumbalur through the median instead of taking a U-turn.

Sundarraj died on the spot while the other three were seriously injured and were rushed to the Government Hospital at Manapparai. Sivasubramaniyan and his mother died of injuries while Akashraj is undergoing treatment.

Viralimalai police registered a case and are investigating.
