The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a third prosecution complaint against the wife of an alleged member of an international drug trafficking syndicate operating in the United States, the United Kingdom, and European nations.
The agency identified the accused as Amarpreet Kaur Chawla, the wife of thet prime accused, Banmeet Singh. During the investigation, it detected more proceeds of alleged crime belonging to her, and many immovable properties bought by the main accused in her name.
Based on the findings, the ED also attached assets worth ₹9.68 crore last year.
The ED initiated investigations based on a request from U.S. authorities. “The brothers named Banmeet Singh and Parvinder Singh, along with others, were operating an international drug trafficking group named the Singh DTO (Drug Trafficking Organisation),” said the agency.
The agency has arrested both brothers. They are currently in judicial custody.
Dark web sites
According to the ED, the syndicate used vendor marketing sites on the dark web, free advertisements on websites, and a network of narcotics and controlled substance distributors and distribution cells to sell drugs.
“The Singh Organisation trafficked drugs on the dark web, and the proceeds were laundered via cryptocurrency transactions. Both the brothers used the moniker ‘Liston’ on a variety of dark web markets, including Silk Road 1, Alpha Bay, and Hansa,” it said.
The ED has seized about 268.22 Bitcoin, valued at ₹130 crore, based on disclosures by Parvinder Singh. Prosecution complaints were filed against the brothers last year. A court framed charges against Banmeet Singh in March, 2025.
