SIT formed to probe ‘attack’ case involving former Health Minister Veena George at Kannur railway station

The Kerala Police have formally constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a further investigation into the case pertaining to the alleged attack on former Health Minister Veena George at the Kannur Railway Station on February 25, 2026.

The incident had taken place during a black-flag protest staged by Kerala Students Union (KSU) activists.

State Police Chief Ravada A. Chandrasekhar formally passed the order based on instructions issued by the State government.

The SIT will be headed by U. Preman, Commandant, KAP IV Battalion, Mangattuparamba. He will be assisted in the investigation by A.P. Asad, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kannur City.

The State Police Chief has directed the SIT to carry out a thorough investigation into the incident to unearth all relevant facts and to complete the probe expeditiously. The team has also been instructed to submit a fortnightly progress report directly to the Police Headquarters as the inquiry proceeds.
