Star Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka, on Saturday, September 6, celebrated her US Open title triumph with a champagne battle with her team, after she got the better of home favourite Amanda Anisimova at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Sabalenka won the match in straight sets.
Sabalenka, without a Grand Slam title this season, found relief after overcoming Anisimova and it showed in her grand celebration in the locker room.
After toppling Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinal, Anisimova pushed Sabalenka hard in the title clash. She lost the first set 6-3, but pushed Sabalenka to a tiebreaker in the second, although the latter won it 7-3.

“This setup was insane, guys. At least you took care of the locker room,” Sabalenka said, as the team celebrated in the locker room, which was covered in plastic sheets to ensure the champagne didn’t destroy the lockers.
Sabalenka also poured some champagne into the trophy from which two of her team members drank.
Sabalenka had gone into Saturday’s final knowing it was her last opportunity to grab a major crown this year after agonising defeats in the Australian and French Open finals. She was stunned by Madison Keys at the Australian Open, while Coco Gauff beat her at Roland Garros.
Sabalenka atoned for those losses to end Anisimova’s hopes of a brilliant redemption just two months after her traumatic 6-0, 6-0 thrashing by Swiatek in the Wimbledon final.
“It’s crazy, all those tough lessons were worth it for this one. I’m speechless right now,” said Sabalenka after becoming the first woman to defend the US Open since Serena Williams in 2014.
Anisimova had won six of nine previous encounters against Sabalenka, a run which included a win in the semifinals at Wimbledon.
