Reportedly, even when she was given Rs 1,000 for the occasion of Pongal or Diwali, she insisted on being given Rs 5 coins.

Local18 exclusively reports about a young girl who started to save Rs 5 coins at an early age and spread awareness about the importance of saving money.
The young woman named Rishvitha Shree became an example for children and grown-ups alike for her initiative to save Rs 5 coins, which she did from an early age. As per the report by Local18, Rishvitha is the youngest daughter of Lakshmi Narayanan and Lakshmi, residents of Mudaliarpet, in Puducherry. She is a student in Class 5, studying at a private school.
Since she was a child, Rashvitha showed interest in acquiring the Rs 5 coins and asked her parents for it when she went to school. She asked for the coins even when she was given pocket money or when she received some from relatives.
Reportedly, even when she was given Rs 1,000 for the occasion of Pongal or Diwali, she insisted on being given Rs 5 coins and only accepted those. So, she started saving Rs 5 coins when she entered Class 1, in a hundi which her parents bought for her. When she was able to collect a total of Rs 3,000 in the last five years, a small savings account was opened in her name at the Mudaliarpet post office, Puducherry and she continued saving Rs 5 coins.
To create awareness of money-saving, the officials of the post office Damodaran and sub-officer Charumathi handed over the coin tray to Rishvitha’s family. The tray was filled with Rs 5 coins collected by Rishvitha herself. Rishvitha’s determination to save was lauded by the public as well as other officials.
