Exclusive interview with the author

Q: What Inspired You To Write This Book?

A: This book is rooted in decades of lived experience—witnessing the space between control and cooperation, between authority and compassion. Throughout a career that has ranged from promoter-enterprises to formal MNCs, I’ve seen how the real power of leadership isn’t in command, but in connection. Most of all, I was inspired by the stories—of individuals spoken over in meetings but full of wisdom, of teams changed not by force but by trust, and of ordinary men and women doing extraordinary things when merely given permission to own their own way. It’s highly personal. I am a lifelong learner, husband, and father, and what I’ve learned is that empowerment begins at home, in how we raise questions, respect silence, and share growth.

Q: Can You Tell Us About The Book?

A:“Empower, Don’t Overpower” is a book about leading with trust, empathy, and purpose. The book explores how empowerment can work in different areas of life—like workplaces, families, education, healthcare, and communities. Through real stories, practical insights, and thoughtful reflections, it shows how small changes in attitude and approach can create a big impact.

Q: What Does The Title Mean?

A: The title “Empower, Don’t Overpower” tells us an essential truth, leadership is not overpowering others but empowering them. To empower is to believe in people, give them the tools and the confidence to succeed, and allow them to grow. To overpower, however, is to control or dictate—usually resulting in fear, disengagement, or silence. It’s an invitation to shift from authority-to-leadership to trust-based collaboration. It’s about creating spaces—whether organizational, family, or community spaces where people feel heard, valued, and encouraged to bring their best to the table.

Q: What Did You Learn When Writing The Book?

A: Writing “Empower, Don’t Overpower” has been a deeply enlightening journey. I learned that true leadership goes beyond titles and authority. It’s about listening, trusting, and enabling others to grow. The process taught me how deeply people value being seen, heard, and supported. I also realized that empowerment isn’t one-size-fits-all, it must be tailored to individual and cultural contexts. Most importantly, I learned that stories whether from boardrooms, classrooms, or everyday lives hold the power to shift mindsets and inspire action. This book became not just a project, but a reflection of years of real-world learning, collaboration, and growth.

Q: Where Do You Get Your Information Or Ideas For Your Books?

A: The ideas and information for my books come from a blend of real-life experiences, professional journeys, and deep observation. Working across promoter-led enterprises and multinational corporations, and engaging with 500+ professionals in diverse teams, I’ve had the privilege to witness how empowerment or the lack of it shapes people and performance. Additionally, I draw inspiration from daily life, community stories, and global shifts in leadership thinking. Books, case studies, and listening to others’ struggles and breakthroughs also help shape the insights that flow into my writing.

Q: How Many Books Have You Written? Which Is Your Favourite?

A: I’ve written several books, though only two have been published so far. “The Digital Highway”, which explored the intersection of technology and leadership, and “Empower, Don’t Overpower”, which focuses on trust-based, human-centric leadership. While both have been deeply meaningful projects, my favourite book is still on its way—the one that I believe will bring together the essence of my journey, learnings, and dreams more completely than ever before.

Q: What Does Success Mean To You? What Is The Definition Of Success?

A: To me, success is not just about making a difference in your life and the lives of others. It’s not just measured in the form of awards or numbers, but by how well you are living according to your values, how much growth you achieve, and the legacy you leave behind.
