The end is in sight for Casemiro at Manchester United.

The club have confirmed the Brazilian midfielder will leave when his contract expires at the end of the season, opting not to activate the one-year extension available to them.

After three turbulent, trophy-laced years, Casemiro’s time in red is winding down.

Signed from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 for a deal worth at least £60 million, Casemiro arrived as a serial winner — and, initially, he played like one.

He made an immediate impact, anchoring United’s midfield and scoring the opening goal in the 2023 Carabao Cup final win over Newcastle, a season that ended with a third-place Premier League finish.

But the tide turned quickly.

United’s struggles on and off the pitch, coupled with Casemiro’s hefty wages — £15 million per year outside the Champions League, rising to £18 million during their lone return — put him firmly under the microscope.

Despite that, the 33-year-old leaves with his head held high. Across 146 appearances, he scored 21 goals and played key roles in United’s 2023 League Cup triumph and their 2024 FA Cup success.

And Casemiro insists the story isn’t over just yet.

“I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life,” he said. “It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months. We still have a lot to fight for together.”

United echoed the sentiment in their farewell message, calling him a “serial winner” and thanking him for his contributions, while stressing their hope of finishing his spell on a high.
