Dempo Goa Challengers secured a decisive 12-3 victory over Stanley’s Chennai Lions in their final league match, climbing to the top of the table in Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) Season 6 on Monday.

In a critical women’s singles match, Krittwika Sinha Roy triumphed 2-1 against China’s Fan Siqi, the league’s highest-valued auction pick.

This result propelled Goa to the top position with 44 points, while Chennai, still without a win, fell three points short of qualifying for the playoffs.

Captain Harmeet Desai led the charge for Dempo Goa Challengers, defeating Kazakhstan’s Kirill Gerassimenko in straight games before teaming up with Zeng Jian to win the mixed doubles 2-1.

Zeng continued her unbeaten singles streak with a 3-0 victory over Poymantee Baisya, increasing her win total to 14 out of 15 in the league.

Brazil’s Vitor Ishiy, a two-time Olympian and Pan-American gold medallist, made his UTT debut for Goa, replacing the injured Tiago Apolonia. Ishiy impressed with a determined singles win over Payas Jain.

Ranked No. 47 in the world, Ishiy became the first Brazilian to compete in the league and displayed his skill with a composed 2-1 comeback victory, securing two consecutive 11-9 wins.

The tie concluded with the marquee match between Fan and Krittwika. After losing the first game, Krittwika exhibited remarkable resilience, winning the next two games to hand Fan her second defeat of the season.
