Liverpool boss Arne Slot wished the fans of the Premier League club on the joyous occasion of Christmas and vowed that he would strive to improve on the spectacular start he has had to life at Merseyside.

Slot’s men sit atop the PL table with 39 points from 16 outings this season, four ahead of second-placed Chelsea despite having played a game lesser than the Blues.

“I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our supporters a Happy Christmas,” the Dutchman said.

“I have still only been at Liverpool for six months or so but in that short space of time I have learned very quickly why our fans are regarded all around the word as being very special,” he added.

Slot has taken to the Reds like swan to water following the departure of former manager and cult hero Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season.

The Dutchman expressed that he sincerely hopes his brand of football has thrilled the Reds fanbase and added that he’d strive to keep the good run going in the second half of the season as well.

“I hope that you have enjoyed the football that the team has played so far and you have my word that we will keep on working as hard as we possibly can to keep on improving,” the 46-year-old said.

“There is a lot of football still to be played so hopefully the second half of the season can be as good – if not even better – than the first half,” Slot added.

Their clash against Leicester proves to be an interesting one as recently appointed head coach Ruud Van Nistelrooy will be hoping to bounce back from their 0-3 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Liverpool take on Leicester City, who are under the stewardship of former Manchester United player and caretaker Ruud Van Nistelrooy. The Foxes got off to a winning start to life under the Dutchman, but have amassed just one point in their last three games. However, Slot refused to count Leicester out of the tie and opined that there was enough time in the season for clubs to challenge for the title.

“I would not be so naive to believe that other clubs do not have the exact same objective no matter where they are in the table,” Slot stated.

“Leicester will see this spell as a chance to push themselves up the table and for this reason they will come to Anfield looking to make life as difficult as they possibly can for us,” he concluded.
