US-Israel-Iran War Ceasefire News Live: Trump’s Hormuz Blockade To Begin Shortly; Netanyahu Says Iran Ceasefire Can End Soon
Iran-US-Israel War Ceasefire News Today Latest Updates: West Asia tensions continue to escalate as United States-Iran peace talks in Pakistan failed to yield any result, despite a ceasefire announcement. Earlier on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran, less than two hours before his deadline for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face devastating attacks on its civilian infrastructure.
Further, the US military said it would begin a blockade of all Iranian ports on Monday (7.30 pm IST), effectively taking control of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz—a vital waterway that handles roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply.
Trump had announced on social media he would blockade the strategic Strait of Hormuz trading route that he has been demanding Tehran fully re-open, after his vice president, JD Vance left negotiations with an Iranian delegation in Islamabad on Sunday.
Oil Prices Surge: Meanwhile, global oil markets reacted swiftly to West Asia developments, with US benchmark crude climbing back above $100 per barrel today after the collapse of talks and Trump’s order to proceed with the blockade.
Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who led Tehran’s delegation in Pakistan, said Tehran would “not bow to any threats” from Washington, while navy chief Shahram Irani called Trump’s blockade threat “ridiculous”.
Furthermore, Lebanese official media reported extensive Israeli strikes across the country’s south. The war’s overall toll in Lebanon on that front rose to 2,055. Israel insists the current West Asia ceasefire does not apply to its military operations in Lebanon targeting Iran-backed Hezbollah.
