Jaane Jaan New Promo: Kareena Kapoor Turns Protective Mother In Sujoy Ghosh Directorial – News18

Kareena Kapoor Khan will soon be seen in Sujoy Ghosh’s directorial Jaane Jaan. On Tuesday, the filmmaker took to her social media handles and shared a new promo of the film. The short video revealed that Kareena will be playing the role of Maya D’Souza in her OTT debut. He then shared a glimpse of what Maya (Kareena) did to protect her daughter from what looks like a murder investigation. The promo video also featured Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma.

Sharing the promo on his X (formerly known as Twitter) account, Sujoy wrote, “whatta honor it was to work with kareena kapoor khan — another level of dedication…here she is as maya d’souza in…#JaaneJaan 21 sept on @NetflixIndia dekhna zaroor.” Kareena Kapoor Khan also shared the promo video on her Instagram handle.

Earlier this month, the trailer of Jaane Jaan was also released which revealed that Kareena will be playing the role of a lady who is in an abusive relationship. While her neighbour Naren (played by Jaideep) has an idea about it, Vijay essays the role of a cop, who is investing Maya’s missing husband.

Jaane Jaan is an adaptation of the Japanese novel The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino. The novel, published in 2005, revolves around a battle of the wits between a maths genius and his equally talented university batchmate, who is investigating a murder case involving the former’s neighbour.

“From the day I read ‘Devotion of Suspect X’, I wanted to adapt it into a film. It was the most amazing love story I had ever read and today thanks to Kareena, Jaideep and Vijay that story is alive on screen. We all worked very hard to tell this story and hopefully, the audience will love it as much as we do,” Ghosh earlier said in a statement.

Jaane Jaan is produced by 12th Street Entertainment and Northern Lights Films in association with Kross Pictures and Balaji Motion Pictures. The film will be released on Netflix on September 21.
