US President Donald Trump on Monday issued a fresh warning to Iran, saying that “lots of bombs will start going off” if the fragile ceasefire expires, as tensions rise over stalled peace efforts and uncertainty over new talks.
Speaking to PBS News during a phone call focused on the Iran conflict, Trump was asked what would happen if the ceasefire ended on Tuesday. He replied, “Then lots of bombs start going off.”
The comments come as diplomatic efforts continue in parallel with rising military threats. A US delegation is preparing for further negotiations in Pakistan aimed at ending the war.
Iran, however, has said it has not yet decided whether it will attend the next round of talks scheduled in Islamabad. Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said on Monday, “We have no plans for the next round of negotiation, and no decision has been made in this regard.”
He also accused the United States of failing to show seriousness in pursuing diplomacy.
