Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes opened up on the delicate situation Ruben Amorim faces as the head coach of the fabled club, where success is the be-all-and-end-all.
Amorim has struggled since taking over as the manager of the slumping United side and Fernandes opined that the demands at the PL unit are sky-high.
“Any manager who comes here will be one game away from a crisis at this club, it’s always like that,”the Portuguese midfielder said.
“If you win a game, it looks like you’re going to win the league – if you lose a game, looks like there’s a cloud over the club that won’t go away”, he added.
Fernandes also opened up about the changes in the team’s playstyle and his role in the middle with Amorim’s change to his preffered system and setup.
“I can serve the players upfront, probably not with the assist but with the ball through the lines for them to create something. It’s very important to have someone behind that is very capable of doing that.”
“When I was doing so well as a no.10 in the past, I had Matic and Paul [Pogba] that was great at doing that. I grew a lot because the ball was coming from there. Now, Casemiro is very good at doing that with one touch, Manuel Ugarte, we know he is more a player who’s going to hunt the ball and recover.”
“Kobbie Mainoo is a player who we know can break the lines by driving with the ball with the power he has and the ability in tight spaces to get away from players. So we have different players there who can help the team and then it,” he stated.
Despite a dip in performance numbers in the ongoing season, a campaign in which Fenandes has already missed a couple of penalty shots, he reiterated his commitment to the side and the needs of the collective.
“I enjoy playing football. You can put me anywhere on the pitch – if you want me to play wingback, goalkeeper, centre back – I will do to the best of my abilities,” he said.
“Obviously, everyone has a favourite position to play, but my role doesn’t change that much and being in that [deeper] position I probably get more involved in the game,” the maestro explained.
“I touch the ball more, I can serve my players up front more – probably not with assists, but with the ball that goes through the lines for them to create something,” he concluded.
