Pooja identifies as a doting aunt, proud paw-rent, and flawed human.
Q: Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
A: I take inspiration from everything around me, from a scene in one of my favourite movies, to a scent in the kitchen that brings back a childhood memory.
Q: When did you write your first book and how old were you?
A: I fell in love with writing at age 13, but it took me much longer to write something that had publishing potential. I was 18 when I published my first book, titled ‘Poori Batter: A Case for Anna Bates’.
Q: Do you have any suggestions to help others become a better writer?
A: I would encourage writers not to skip out on researching characters or facts just because your inspiration is strong and solid. Both of these aspects of writing go hand in hand, and there are always small details you can add to your book, even after you believe it is finished.
Q: In your opinion, what are the most important elements of good writing?
A: I’ve found that no matter how brilliant your story is, the most important element of good writing is your choice of words to convey that story. If your reader is able to play the scene out in their head, I’d say that you’ve succeeded in delivering a great book.
