Exclusive interview with the author

Q: What Inspired You To Write This Book?

A: My biggest inspiration has been the families I’ve worked with over the last decade in dementia care. I have seen caregivers struggle with fear, confusion, guilt, and countless unanswered questions after a loved one is diagnosed. While there are many medical resources available, I felt there was a need for a simple, practical guide written from real clinical experience. This book is my way of supporting caregivers and reminding them that they are never alone in this journey.

Q: Can You Tell Us About The Book?

A: This book is a practical guide for anyone caring for a person living with dementia. It explains the disease in simple language and offers guidance on communication, managing behavioural changes, daily care, safety, nutrition, and emotional well-being. More than just information, it is designed to give caregivers confidence, empathy, and reassurance throughout their caregiving journey.

Q: What Does The Title Mean?

A: The title Love Remains reflects the message at the heart of this book. Dementia may gradually take away memories, words, and independence, but it cannot erase the love shared between a person and their family. Throughout my years of working with people living with dementia, I have witnessed moments where love was expressed through a smile, a gentle touch, a familiar song, or simply being present. This book reminds caregivers that even when memories fade, love remains and it is often the most powerful form of care we can offer.

Q: Where Do You Get Your Information Or Ideas For Your Books?

A: Most of my ideas come from my daily interactions with older adults, their families, and healthcare professionals. Having spent more than 20 years in healthcare and over 11 years in dementia and elder care, I have witnessed situations that textbooks often don’t cover. I also stay updated with current research, clinical guidelines, and global best practices to ensure the information I share is both practical and evidence-based.

Q: What Does Success Mean To You? What Is The Definition Of Success?

A: For me, success is not measured by the number of books sold but by the number of lives touched. If even one caregiver feels more confident, one family feels less overwhelmed, or one person living with dementia receives more compassionate care because of this book, I would consider it a success. Making a meaningful difference has always been my greatest achievement.

Q: How Important Is Research To You When Writing A Book?

A: Research is incredibly important to me because families deserve information they can trust. My writing is shaped by years of hands-on experience in dementia care, but I always support that experience with current research and evidence-based practices. Healthcare is constantly evolving, and I believe an author’s responsibility is to keep learning. My goal is to bridge the gap between medical knowledge and everyday caregiving in a way that is accurate, practical, and easy to understand.

Q: What Advice Would You Give To Aspiring Authors?

A: Write about something you truly believe in and something that can genuinely help others. Don’t focus on writing the perfect book; focus on writing an honest one. Your knowledge, experiences, and perspective are unique, and someone out there is waiting to learn from your story. Stay authentic, be patient with the process, and never underestimate the impact your words can have.
