Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has been advised to step down from his post at the helm of the F1 racing team following an internal investigation into an accusation of inappropriate behaviour with a colleague.

Reports suggest that the issue has been going on for a while and that the instructions have come down directly from Red Bull, and not just the racing team.

Sources state that the gravity of the issue is incredibly serious and that solid evidence supporting the accusations exists.

Earlier reports stated that the owner of the racing team’s parent company, Oliver Mintzlaff, was also aware of the claims and the accusations are being looked into in all seriousness.

After being made aware of the allegations, the company launched an independent investigation which was carried out by an external specialist lawyer. The company added that they took the issue extremely seriously.

Horner has been the principal of the F1 side since the year 2005 and has overseen the team go from strength to strength year after year.

The 50-year-old has led the team to multiple successful campaigns including drivers’ and constructors’ championships and had a blockbuster season in the 2023 campaign as his side managed to win 21 of the 22 races in the calendar.

Two-time defending F1 champion Max Verstappen managed to claim the top podium spot 19 times, while teammate Sergio Perez raced to the chequered flag twice.

Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz’s win at the Singapore Grand Prix was the only event that stopped Red Bull from a complete sweep.

The strong showing by Horner’s side also led the team to their first-ever 1-2 finish in the driver’s championship, while they also bagged the constructors and the individual titles.

The upcoming season of F1 is slated to begin on the 2nd of March with the first race of the year at Bahrain Grand Prix.
