Russia has invited the Taliban to participate in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). Zamir Kabulov, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Second Asian Department, said “an invitation was sent to them.” Kabulov said that there are many promising fields of cooperation between Russia and the Taliban. The Russian Foreign and Justice Ministries have asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to remove the Taliban from the list of terrorist organisations.
