Stocks to Watch on January 09, 2026: Indian equity markets ended Thursday’s session on a weak note as selling pressure intensified amid muted global cues. On the technical front, the Nifty has broken below the lower band of its rising channel and retested a key support zone near the previous swing low of around 25,880.

Analysts caution that a sustained move below this level could weaken the prevailing uptrend and may pull the index towards the 25,600–25,700 range. On the upside, the former support of the short-term 20-day DEMA, placed near 26,050, is expected to act as an immediate resistance.

BHEL

State-owned BHEL has secured an order from Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited for coal gasification and raw syngas cleaning facilities for a coal-to-ammonium nitrate project in Jharsuguda, Odisha. Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited (BCGCL) is a joint venture between BHEL and Coal India.

The Bajaj Group has completed the acquisition of a 23 per cent stake in its insurance subsidiaries — Bajaj General Insurance and Bajaj Life Insurance — from Allianz SE for Rs 12,190 crore and Rs 9,200 crore, respectively. Reliance Industries said it will consider purchasing Venezuelan oil, according to a Reuters report. The company said it would evaluate buying Venezuelan crude if permitted to sell it to non-US buyers. “We await clarity on access for Venezuelan oil by non-US buyers and will consider buying the oil in a compliant manner,” a company spokesperson said.

IEX

The Electricity Appellate Tribunal (APTEL) will hear the market coupling case on January 9 at 10:30 am. The hearing follows Indian Energy Exchange’s challenge to the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission’s July 2025 order on day-ahead market coupling, which had led to sharp volatility in IEX shares. The exchange has argued that the order was arbitrary, violated principles of natural justice, and threatened its role as the primary platform for price discovery.

Power Mech Projects

Power Mech Projects said its wholly owned subsidiary, PM Green Private Ltd, has received an order from West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd to set up a 250 MW / 1,000 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System at Goaltore, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal. The project will be executed under the build-own-operate model with a 100 per cent off-take guarantee from WBSEDCL.

IREDA

IREDA reported that its loan book rose 27.6 per cent year-on-year to Rs 87,975 crore in Q3 FY26, slightly lower than the 31 per cent growth recorded in the first half of the fiscal. Disbursements increased 44.5 per cent in the first nine months to Rs 24,903 crore, while sanctions grew 29 per cent. In the first half, disbursements and sanctions had grown 54 per cent and 86 per cent, respectively.

Highway Infrastructure

The partnership will combine Bharat Forge’s domain expertise with Agile Robots’ intelligent robotics and automation solutions.

Morepen Laboratories

Morepen Laboratories has obtained a stay on a show-cause notice issued by the Commissioner, Central GST & Central Excise Commissionerate, Shimla. The company had filed a writ petition before the Himachal Pradesh High Court, which granted a stay on January 6, 2026. The order was received by the company on January 8.

Astra Microwave

Astra Rafael Comsys Private Limited, the joint venture between Astra Microwave Products and Rafael Advanced Defence Systems, has secured an order worth Rs 275.27 crore (including taxes) from the Indian Air Force.
