‘Told Him 40 Years Ago’: DK Shivakumar’s Astrologer’s Prediction Set To Come True

As Karnataka Congress chief D K Shivakumar appears set for a possible elevation as the state’s next chief minister, his longtime astrologer has claimed that a prediction he made four decades ago is finally coming true.
Astrologer Bellur Dwarakanath recalled that Shivakumar first approached him around 40 years ago, when he predicted that the Congress leader would one day head the state.
“When D K Shivakumar came to me many years ago, I saw that he had very strong stars. I told him then that he would one day lead Karnataka,” Dwarakanath said. “This should have happened at least a year ago, but sometimes destiny is delayed. Now, it appears the time has come.”
Describing Shivakumar as a close confidant, the astrologer said the two remain in regular contact.
“Without speaking to me, he rarely goes anywhere. We speak several times a week. I treat him like a son. People may see him as tough or arrogant, but he is a kind-hearted person,” he said.
Dwarakanath also recalled advising former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi after the Emergency period, claiming he had predicted her return to power after taking her to temples across Karnataka.
The astrologer’s remarks have drawn attention amid intense speculation over Karnataka’s leadership change. Shivakumar, who represents the Kanakapura Assembly constituency, is widely expected to be elected leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP).
Another Astrologer, Dwarakanath Guruji, said he had suggested three possible dates for Shivakumar’s swearing-in — May 31, June 5 and June 6. “I have given him three dates. Sunday, May 31, June 5 and June 6,” he told PTI.
He further predicted that Shivakumar would enjoy a long tenure as chief minister and would return to power after the 2028 Assembly elections.
“He is not going to be a one-day or one-term chief minister. His horoscope is extremely strong. He will serve Karnataka for a long time and will have the support of the Congress high command,” Dwarakanath said.
Expressing confidence in Shivakumar’s leadership, the astrologer said Karnataka would become “healthy and prosperous” under his administration because of his vision for the state.
On the 2028 Assembly elections, Dwarakanath said Shivakumar must first fulfil his current responsibilities before seeking a fresh mandate.
“Undoubtedly, he has to win the next election. Only then will he become the people’s chief minister in the true sense. For now, he has responsibilities to discharge. The next term will be the time to enjoy the fruits of that work,” he said.
The Karnataka Congress Legislature Party is scheduled to meet at 4 pm on Saturday at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru to elect its new leader. Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has already accepted the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and dissolved the state cabinet, paving the way for the formation of a new government.
