A fresh incident of violence involving tourists and locals has been reported in Uttarakhand’s Mussoorie, with a video showing a group allegedly attacking cafe staff with sticks.

The incident reportedly took place on September 15 at Yummies Café in Kincraig. According to cafe staff, the group of tourists, reportedly from Haryana, entered the premises and allegedly assaulted those working there before leaving the spot.

“We have submitted a written complaint to the police, but the tourists could not be traced,” a café staff member said.

The incident has drawn attention to a series of altercations involving visitors and residents in the hill town in recent months.

In June, a Haryana tourist was arrested after a dispute with a local couple near Mussoorie’s Picture Palace escalated into an assault. A video of the incident showed a man allegedly attacking the couple with a plastic tub. Police subsequently arrested the accused and registered a case.

Another clash was reported in July in the Hussain Ganj and Picture Palace areas, where separate disputes between tourists and locals turned physical. Police detained seven people and issued challans under the Uttarakhand Police Act.

In May, an argument at the Mall Road barrier over vehicle entry during restricted hours also escalated into a physical confrontation between tourists and local residents.

The latest cafe incident has once again brought the issue of tourist-local disputes in Mussoorie into focus, with police expected to investigate the assault and identify those involved.
