Premier League heavyweights Chelsea romped to a 5-1 win over Charlton Athletic on Sunday in the third round of the FA Cup fixture between the sides.
Jorrel Hato, Tosun Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez helped the Blues register a comfortable victory to welcome Liam Rosenior to the club.
Hato put the Blues ahead in the fourth minute of added time in the first half of the game, before Chelsea doubled their lead in five minutes after the resumption of play through Adarabioyo.
Miles Leaburn halved the arrears for his side with his goal in the 57th minute, but Guiu, who had set up Hato for the opener, turned scorer to restore the Blues’ two-goal lead.
Neto made it four in the first minute of second half stoppage time, before Chelsea finished with a flurry as Fernandez slotted the ball into the back of the net from the spot to close out the game.
“A good start, professional. I thought our first goal came at an important time in the game, it was a brilliant goal for Jorrel. The quality of my players was outstanding. Strong start, something to build on,” Rosenior said following the triumph.
“Goals change games and that comes down to quality of players. To get the goal when we did was really good.”
“I’ve got a fantastic squad, I was delighted with the starting players. I thought Marc Guiu was magnificent, he deserved his goal,” he continued.
“There are a lot of positives. Strong start but nothing to get too carried away about yet,” the Englishman added.
“The lads have been really receptive to us and I thank them for that. If we keep working in this way I’m excited for the future,” Rosenior said.
