Rashmika Mandanna’s deepfake clip: Suspect from Bihar has been detained | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Rashmika Mandanna‘s deepfake video had gone viral on the internet a while ago. It further got noticed as a serious offence when Amitabh Bachchan and other Bollywood celebs came in support of Rashmika and raised their voice against it. Days after the video went viral, an FIR was lodged against it on November 10.
This FIR was filed under section 465 (punishment for forgery) and 469 (forgery to harm reputation) of the Indian Penal Code, along with sections 66C and 66E of the Information Technology Act, at the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations Unit of the Delhi Police‘s Special Cell.The Delhi Commission Of Women issued a notice to the police to file an FIR.
And now, on November 15, Delhi Police has detained a suspect from Bihar in connection with this deepfake video of Rashmika.
After this incident, the Indian government has reminded social media platforms about the legal provisions and penalties related to deepfakes.
