Excise policy case: ED to produce Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal before special PMLA court | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: A day after the arrest, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is set to appear before a special PMLA court in New Delhi on Friday as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seeks his custody in a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in the scrapped Delhi excise policy 2021-22.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief was detained after ED officials conducted searches at his official residence in the Civil Lines area on Thursday.
Medical personnel were spotted entering the ED office for a preliminary health check-up of Kejriwal before his court appearance.
The ED is likely to request a 10-day custody citing Kejriwal’s “non-cooperation” in the investigation and to probe his involvement in the liquor policy and discrepancies along with his party’s role.
The ED may interrogate Kejriwal in the presence of BRS leader K Kavitha who was arrested last week in the excise policy case.
Kejriwal’s name has been mentioned in multiple ED charge sheets alleging involvement in policy-making for personal gains. So far, 16 individuals have been arrested in connection with this case, with the ED filing six chargesheets.
