NEW DELHI: Following an assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep concern and strongly condemned the attack. He said that violence has no place in politics and democracies and wished the former president a speedy recovery.
“Deeply concerned by the attack on my friend, former President Donald Trump.Strongly condemn the incident. Violence has no place in politics and democracies. Wish him a speedy recovery,” PM Modi posted on X.

The Prime Minister also extended his support and sympathy to those affected by the incident.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased, the injured, and the American people,” he said.
The incident occurred during Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania when an unidentified suspect fired shots at the former President. Video footage showed Trump falling to the ground with a bloodied ear, standing up again while clutching his ear and shouting, “fight, fight, fight.”
The shooting resulted in the deaths of the suspect and a rally attendee.
In 2020, Prime Minister Modi welcomed then-President Trump to India in a display of their friendship. The two leaders shared a hug at the ‘Namaste Trump’ event at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad. This followed PM Modi’s visit to the US in 2019 at the invitation of President Trump for the ‘Howdy Modi’ event.
