When Aamir Khan had revealed the REAL reason he was removed from Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Darr’, later Sunny Deol was cast and had a huge feud with SRK on the set | Hindi Movie News – Times of India
‘Darr‘ is considered one of the most memorable characters of Shah Rukh Khan, and everyone still remembers his stammering and how he said, ‘K..K..K..Kiran’. SRK did not have any qualms about playing a negative character so early on in his career, be it ‘Baazigar’ or ‘Darr’. But did you know that Aamir Khan was the first choice for the role. He was supposed to be cast opposite Juhi Chawla in the character which was later played by Sunny Deol.
Aamir had once revealed why he did not do the movie. In an interview with Sushma Dutt in Vancouver, as he was touring at that point, Aamir said he had liked the story of ‘Darr’. He further added, “Yash Chopra is a very good director. I have worked with him on Parampara and was very keen on working with him again. But, I have a principle, or you could say a policy, that if I’m working on a film with two heroes or more on one hero, I request the director for a joint narration. I prefer the director to narrate the story to both heroes together.”
He further revealed that him and Salman had got a joint narration during ‘Andaz Apna Apna’. “This approach ensures that both of us are satisfied with our roles and helps prevent any issues later on. This is how I like to work. But in this case, it was not possible. Yash ji did not feel that he should give a joint narration. On that basis, I was removed from the project,” he said.
Later when Sunny was cast, he and SRK had a huge feud over a scene and did not speak to each other for 16 years. Sunny felt that since he played an navy officer in the movie, he shouldn’t be attacked from behind by Shah Rukh’s character. But the latter was quite stubborn on that. Eventually, Sunny got so angry, he ripped his pants, leaving everyone shocked. Post this incident, they didn’t speak to each other for many years. Though, the duo hugged and patched up and it was a treat for fans to see SRK attend the success party of ‘Gadar 2’ last year.
